Synopsis

Players Theatre and Players Workshop are thrilled to announce the highlight of our 2017 Season... Coraline.
The international premiere of a musical based on Neil Gaiman's classic.

Coraline Jones is your average, ordinary girl. Or is she?
When the Jones family moves in to their new home, Coraline stumbles upon a secret door. A door that will lead to a fantastic adventure. An adventure that will lead all who witness it to believe in love, magic, and the power of good over evil.

Behind this secret door lies the Other world. And in that world lives the Other Mother. She desperately wants Coraline to stay forever. She hungrily wants Coraline to become her little girl. As Coraline's world slowly becomes unbuttoned, Coraline will have to fight with all her wits and courage to save everyone and everything she has ever known and loved.

This spellbinding production of Neil Gaiman's award-winning masterpiece will have everyone on the edge of their seats. Featuring standout puppetry and creative staging, this Gaiman darling promises to be a treat. Don't miss it! Book early for the best seats!

 Highlights of the Show

  • Coraline is an extraordinary piece of theatre for children, young people and families. It is stimulating, creative, and has social, literary, and cultural breadth.

  • Coraline incorporates outstanding, unconventional puppetry, dynamic visuals, unique staging techniques, creative use of props, and imaginative effects.

  • Coraline is a play with strong educational value. It:

    • Deals with the triumph of good over evil, and gratitude for what one already has.

    • It teaches the child to seek the true value of things.

    • Encourages inventiveness, resourcefulness, creative problem solving, and asks children to look beyond the obvious..

    • Stimulates the imagination and thinking outside of the box.

    • Nurtures in your child the joy of books and reading by linking the page to the stage.

    • Introduces children to drama and suspense as a theatrical genre, and the musical as a theatrical style.

  • Question & Answer Session. All our shows have a post-show Q&A session if possible. The Q&A helps young audience members consolidate their thoughts of the show, clarify any questions they might have on who, how, why and to ask the actors any questions about themselves or how theatre is made.

Players Theatre is pleased to be working with schools to supplement the Ministry of Education’s STELLAR Literacy programme with our literature based theatre exposure and experience performances.
